SUMMARY:2022 Annual Easter Egg Hunt
DESCRIPTION:Additional Event Information\nALERT! DATE CHANGE DUE TO HIGH WINDS! This year’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held SUNDAY April 24th. We moved the date due to the weather – predicted gusts of up to 50 mph!!! Yikes! \nWe have between 250-300 eggs stuffed with all kinds of exciting toys and candy. There will be a few larger eggs hiding about and this year we’ll have an EXTRA GIANT GRAND PRIZE EGG. \nThe Egg Hunt will take place in Roanoke Park in the green space by Coleman Spring (north side of Karnes\, northeast of the volleyball court and just to the east of Grocers Lofts building).  \nPlease arrive to the egg hunt at or a few minutes before 3pm as the egg hunt will start promptly at 3. \nAs usual\, Scraps KC was a great resource for this event with boatloads of inexpensive Easter supplies. Please visit Scraps KC if you haven’t already! They are just down the street and are an absolutely amazing resource for crafting and art supplies. \nAlthough I will have a few baskets on hand for collecting eggs – please bring your own baskets if you have them.  \nTHE EASTER BUNNY WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE! We almost ended up with the Easter Bunny’s part-time assistant\, Easter Unicorn\, but the Easter Bunny luckily had an availability window on Saturday. DESCRIPTION:Additional Event Information\nRSVPs have been trickling in over the week to for the Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday\, April 3rd at 3pm. I think we have about 15-20 kiddos showing up so far. We have between 250-300 eggs stuffed with all kinds of exciting toys\, candy\, quarters\, and of course the BIG GRAND PRIZE EGG with goodies and a $10 bill. \nOur neighbor Kelsey Johnson passed along a message to me from the Easter Bunny\, saying that he would be in attendance\, so that’s exciting news! \nAlso I want to thank our neighbors Jeanne Sharkey for donating some extra filled eggs and Jessie Kidwell for coming by last weekend and helping me fill eggs. Our neighbor to the south in Roanoke\, Scott Burnett\, will also be at the egg hunt with some cute polka-dot folding foot stools for any families that would like to take one – so special thanks to him as well for contributing to this event. And thank you to everyone who has offered to help hide eggs and assist with cleanup afterward (hopefully there’s not much cleanup and all the kiddos will find all the eggs!). Also\, Scraps KC was a great resource for this event with boatloads of inexpensive Easter supplies. Please visit Scraps KC if you haven’t already! They are just down the street and are an absolutely amazing resource for crafting and art supplies. \nIf you are still on the fence about whether or not you’ll make it to the egg hunt don’t worry – anyone and everyone in the neighborhood is welcome to show up\, even if you haven’t RSVP’ed. DESCRIPTION:The annual outdoor dance concert that takes place in beautiful Roanoke Park the first Saturday after Labor Day in September. The event starts with a free dance class and then showcases a variety of local dance companies of all genres which have included ballet\, modern\, jazz\, tap\, hip-hop\, break dance\, capoeira\, swing\, tango\, salsa\, hooping\, aerial dance\, and many different types of cultural dance such as Middle Eastern\, Indian\, Irish\, Scottish\, Somoan\, Spanish\, Mexican\, and West African. SUMMARY:Playground Build Event
DESCRIPTION:On June 14th\, the Roanoke Park Playgrounds Task Force are asking for volunteers from our 4 surrounding neighborhoods to help construct the new play equipment. There will be representatives from the manufacturer to help give instructions.  Volunteers are still needed for this. We will need approx 5 more volunteers for the morning shift;  8am-12 and 10 more volunteers for the 12-4pm shift. Lunch and water will be provided. You can click here to sign up via Sign Up Genius. Anyone is welcome to volunteer to help\, but please make sure to find childcare for the kids\, since the playground will be in construction and not safe for kids to play around.
