3120 Coleman Road is one of the 23 houses in the Coleman Highlands neighborhood designed by the architectural firm of Boillot and Lauck. It was built in 1914 by Mr. Laurids Jorgenson who also had the home at 3122 Coleman Road built (1911). Jorgenson was a manager at the downtown Franklin Ice Cream Company. He never lived in the home at 3120 Coleman Road, but most likely built it with the idea of entering the real estate speculation field follwoing the construction of 3126, 3128, and 3130 Coleman Road for Swofford Realty. This house was built on a steep hill as you can see from the slope between the house and the stone foundation used for the basement walls. This home’s architecture includes a pent roof (or false roof) over the three second-story windows and a chamfered front gable. When the view from the back side of this house includes the West Side neighborhood, Southwest Boulevard, and the west side of downtown toward the West Bottoms.
3126 Coleman Road was built in 1913 at a cost of $4000. Designed by the architectural firm of Boillot and Lauck, the home was built for Swofford Realty, a company that built many houses in the Coleman Highlands neighborhood on speculation to sell for a profit.
