10 Reason I’m Grateful for Coleman Highlands

by Anne Rauth

There are many reasons I am grateful for our neighborhood—these are just the top 10!

1. Operation Breakthrough support: You supported Topher Rauth’s Eagle Scout project (Coats for Kids) for those children, and guess who is working there this summer?

2. Refugee support: You helped a refugee family from Ukraine when I asked. They’ve since been able to move to a larger place and the father of the family is now employed.

3. Friendliness: You’ve said hello for years when we were out walking Bailey, Abbie the Labbie, and Holly the Collie.

4. Funding young entrepreneurs: You’ve supported the Macho Mowers/Blowers and allowed them to have their own spending money. These funds also enabled them to purchase “new to them” cars.

5. Encouragement: I’ve had neighbors encourage my writing, inspire me to be a blood donor (now I’ll encourage you all to do the same), give me flowers from their gardens, and share when they’ve extra produce to offer.

6. Book donations: When I needed children’s books, you all showed up in a big way!

7. Boy Scout Pancake Supper support: If it weren’t for this neighborhood, three boys would have had to purchase many pancake tickets themselves.

8. Best Halloween: Our neighborhood Halloween decor, trick-or-treating, and celebration is the bomb!

9. Christmas Eve luminaria: It just wouldn’t be the same without the beautiful neighborhood luminaries leading us home.

10. Wonderful environment: I love our front porches, big trees, and wide boulevards and streets. ▪
